A Brief History of the SPASAA
Gratitude. Any school alumni association is founded on gratitude.
From its humble beginning in 1976, St. Peter the Apostle School has graduated thousands of students who have been educated in the Chinese heritage and the Catholic faith. Two decades later, some of these former students came together to express their gratitude, and thus gave birth to the St. Peter the Apostle School Alumni Association (SPASAA).
Rev. Msgr. Francis Chin, the school’s second director, gathered the first group of SPASAA officers and founding members. He asked the help of Mrs. Myrna Tabalon, the school’s second principal, and Mrs. Leticia Borromeo-Lopez, a pioneer Science teacher, to support the activities of the association.
SPASAA was envisioned to be an organization rooted in gratitude. Because the SPAS alumni are thankful for the gift of education they once received, they wish to share this gift to future generations and ensure that more children are educated in the Chinese-Filipino, Catholic spirit. To this day, SPASAA continues to support the vision of the school by providing assistance to various educational and socio-civic projects.
The association also serves as a support community for the school’s alumni. Through its activities, SPASAA gathers together alumni from across generations in a spirit of camaraderie and friendship. School alumni get to interact with each other through sports, socials and fundraisers, thus forming a mutually enriching community environment.
To date, the association has been blessed with the following past presidents:
