“Seussical”: A Musical Play for a Cause

Last October 2, 2011, member of the SPAS school and alumni communities trooped to Onstage Theater at Greenbelt One to watch “Seussical,” a children’s musical play by Repertory Philippines, Inc.

The SPAS Alumni Association successfully staged this event to raise funds for its planned school-support programs, medical mission and tree-planting activities.  Alumni members came with family and friends. Sr. Theresa Wang, MSP, School Directress, was in attendance, as well as members of the SPAS Parents Auxiliary, student organizations and the St. Peter Parish.

“Seussical” is a two-act play based on the children’s books of renowned author Theodor Seuss Geisel, more commonly known as Dr. Seuss.  The main character of the story is the elephant Horton, who tries to protect the defenseless residents of the miniscule Who-ville, a village perched on top of a speck of dust.  Throughout his journey, he encounters many of Dr. Seuss’ fictional characters.

The musical play was most especially enjoyed by the children amongst the audience, thirty (30) of whom are from the Bahay Maria Orphanage who were treated to the play by the SPASAA.

The event was made possible through the generous support of Philippine Airlines, Tao Yuan Restaurant, Spirojenkinsen Builders and the rest of the sponsors.
